Zoot Velasco is a consultant building communities through organizational capacity building. After a 12-year career as an artist, dancer, and actor, he created an award-winning prison arts program producing work currently in museum collections at the Getty, Hammer, and Library of Congress. He produced STEAM arts education programs that won local, regional, and statewide awards and quadrupled the budget at a cultural center in Orange County. He built four new art centers, a Boys & Girls Club and a theatre in the Harbor Area of Los Angeles. His methods have raised more $25 million for various community benefit organizations (CFRE-2011). He holds an MBA in nonprofit management from Hope International University and professional designations in arts education, fundraising, management and conflict resolution. His book, The First 100 Days is used as a textbook for nonprofit management certificated courses at two California universities where Zoot teaches.
